The reason I chose RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University

When I completed my bachelor’s in civil engineering, I was expecting that life of a civil engineer will be quite different from other engineers. Yes, it was different but there was a lot of struggle in getting a job. I got my first job as a Project Engineer in a reputed private firm and after completing 1 year as a project engineer, I concluded .that, if you want to become a project manager in any reputed firm, only bachelor’s degree is not enough. Then, I started exploring things and I got to a conclusion about what I always wanted to do with my career.

I talked to many industry professionals, contractors and my relatives about what I should opt for. I also tried searching for many courses offering Project Management in various universities, but,  my project manager suggested me about RICS School of Built Environment and NICMAR. He also explained to me that choosing RICS  SBE over NICMAR will be good because the school gives an MBA (Post Graduation Degree) when compared to NICMAR it just gives a PGP ACM Course Certificate. I compared both the college in terms of fee structure and placements and then I concluded to join RICS. My selection was done after a simple entrance test followed by an interview within the campus.

All I can say is that from the very first day of college until today, the faculty at RICS SBE has helped me improve my skills and gaining more knowledge about how the industry works. The self-work and the assignments which I completed here gave me a new way to learn the professional skills which will be used in my future. I got selected as a Placement Coordinator of my section which helped me to learn how to engage with the students and faculties.

Internship Experience:

I got selected for Excelize Software Pvt Ltd as a Business Development. My job during this whole internship was to know about Implementation of BIM in India. My internship at Excelize has taught me more than I could have imagined. As the BIM Business Development Intern, I feel my duties were diverse and ever-changing. Sometimes it’s tough to recall everything I have taken in over the past months, but I feel that these are some of the most beneficial lessons I have learned. As we started from Competitive Mapping, till bench marking of it. Moving forward positively under the guidance of Internship Head we started identifying Target Groups in Indian & Overseas Market for our company. After Identifying all the Target Groups we tried reaching the decision-makers of the company via LinkedIn, Emails, Phone calls, texts and using social media platform and Circulated a questionnaire amongst all the decision-makers of the Target Groups to make a statistical analysis of awareness of BIM in India and the analysis was very positive towards BIM. This has truly been a great learning experience and I’ll be forever indebted to those who gave me a hand here.
