My Journey through RICS SBE

After completing my graduation in Architecture, I worked for almost 2 years in the industry gaining knowledge and exploring new things. Apart from designing, I was always passionate about the civil world. I never wanted to settle as a designing expert but wanted to do something more, so I started exploring things and I found my passion what I always wanted to do. I wanted to work more than an architect having a good knowledge not only in designing but also in the civil field. I wanted to be a Project Manager, the scope of work always fascinated me and my interest kept on increasing.

I tried looking out for various courses in various university but one day my cousin informed me about RICS SBE, and she was also looking for the same course. At first, I simply gave the entrance with her having a thought I would have her company and will commence these courses. But then I did my brief research, I was happy that I have landed in one of the best and appropriate university what I always wanted to go. The curriculum and the subjects were introduced keeping a view of the construction industry, the gap our industry is facing.

RICS SBE has helped in shaping my career turning my weakness into strengths, preparing me to face the competitive world. Giving a new approach to my perspective and making me more refine for upcoming opportunities, expanding my knowledge and improving with my skills. The assignments have a practice-based approach which helps us to gain practical knowledge along with theoretical knowledge. Theoretical knowledge is as important as practical knowledge but without having any basic theoretical understanding, this can prove to be dangerous. It helps in understanding and having a deeper knowledge of various concepts.

Internship experience:

I was working as a Business Development intern for Excelize Software’s Pvt Ltd. My first week of internship commenced with referring to various data available on the internet on BIM as well as going through the various publications that have been made on BIM, these in return has given me the exposure of a proper understanding and gaining the knowledge of the same. It also gave me glimpses of how important it is to adopt it in the Built Environment sector. There is vast information available on the internet with findings and various aspects of BIM. I have the interest to learn more and more and thus I never gave up and continued with my research work along with getting the best guidance from my Industrial Mentor. I had the confusion and many myths regarding Business development at first but after doing my intern all my doubts were cleared and I had a better understanding regarding it. My Intern also helped me to explore new fields and acquire new skills. It wan an amazing experience and looking forward to such new opportunities as it helps us to keep exploring ourselves.
