Congratulations to Nikhil Jaju, student of MBA REUI 3, RICS School of Built Environment, Noida, on securing 1st position in the NIUA competition "Resilience meets Sustainability: The Youth & their Role " supported by National Institute of Urban Affairs on 25th September 2019. This conference cum competition gave him an immense exposure towards the Resilience City that the world requires. A total of 5 students (2 from MBA REUI, 2 from MBA CPM & 1 from MBA CEQS) were shortlisted for this event.

This event featured plenary sessions to adopt design strategies for a portion of land which is being recently incorporated within the municipal boundary limits associated with urban flooding, decrease in the ground water table, unscientific waste management techniques and spread of vector borne diseases etc.

Nikhil Jaju shares that “The key takeaways from this experience for him would be, that, he made good contacts among architects and urban planners and to receive an award from Mr. Hitesh Vaidya, Director of NIUA and to be a part of global forum that would be conducted by UN in Abu Dhabi next year. This experience would certainly be cherished from my side for a very long time”.

The group comprised of 2 architects, 1 urban planner and a Management student. This diversity not only helped them secure 1st position, but also gave them a food for thought regarding the importance of such diversity in framing strategies. The students structured their thought such as laying strategies in tandem with 7 important qualities of a resilient city as per National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA).
