For first semester MBA CPM & CEQS students, a full day site visit was organized to HPL Technology Park, Jangpura on 21st September 2019. HPL (Hindustan Prefab Limited) is a Govt. of India enterprise under the administrative control of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The technology park is spread over approximately 2 acres of land that showcases various emerging construction technologies like GFRG (Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panel System), EPS (Expanded Polystyrene Core Panel Sytem), LGSF (Light Gauge Steel Framed Structure), PEB (Pre-engineered Building) etc.
The students were accompanied by Assistant Prof Triveni Prasad Nanda.
The objective of the site visit was to understand the construction methodology of these new housing systems as well as onsite observation of the quality of buildings constructed using them.
The schedule of the site visit was therefore divided into two phases. In the first half, our students were addressed by the chief architect of HPL on the role and importance of Prefab technologies followed by a briefing session on construction method and specifications of various emerging housing technologies. In the second half, the students were taken to the HPL Technology Park for onsite visit of the demonstration buildings constructed with these emerging housing technologies.
