The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a global professional body endorsing and carrying out the highest international ethics in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. Therefore, all the international real estate & construction companies follow RICS Standards.

RICS headquarter is in London with its main support functions in Birmingham. There are regional offices in the United Kingdom, across mainland Europe, in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, North America and Brazil.

RICS SBE in India is housed in two states- one in Amity University- Noida, and second in Amity University- Mumbai.

RICS involves members to update their knowledge and ability during their working life through ongoing professional growth.

  • Associate members may use "AssocRICS" after their names.
  • Professional Members may use "MRICS" after their names
  • Fellows may use "FRICS" after their names.
  • Honorary members may use “HonRICS” after their names.

Entities holding the skilled MRICS or FRICS designation are credited to use the professional title designation "Chartered Surveyor" depending on their selected specialist qualifications and field of proficiency.

How to become an MRICS?

Once you have accomplished an accredited degree, the next step is to get a job as a trainee. In order to become a member of RICS (MRICS) you need to complete your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) which includes completing a period of structured training with an employer. Structured training generally takes between two to three years and comprises of on-the-job learning and assessment.

The APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) is the practical training and experience which, when combined with academic qualifications, leads to membership (MRICS) and the status of chartered surveyor.
