To begin with, having acquired a degree in civil engineering and work experience of a year in the built sector was not enough to get a fast-growing and well-paid job in today’s world. I always had the desire to excel in the field of construction and had keen interest to learn and explore more about the construction sector along with its latest trends practiced, costing, estimation, budgeting and being the best at such practices. Having the vision of starting up my firm in the future, my work experience taught me that this industry has immense potential to expand. I felt it is not just the technical skills, but it is of utmost importance to build up managerial and soft skills. This is the moment I realized that unless I do a specialized MBA that would add value to my engineering degree, my path to rising and upswing would be very limited.
As quoted by Brian Tracy “Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and their lives will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future”.

Why RICS School of Built Environment?
I started my research through all possible mediums that would find me the right organization, helping me achieve all the competencies required for a construction project manager. After a complete analysis, discussions with family and friends, it led me to RICS School of Built Environment, which would deliver me the required competencies as well as build upon my skills and work experience. The MBA in Construction Project Management program offered by RICS is the only program across India that is accredited by PMI-Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) supported by leading Real Estate, Infrastructure & Construction firms as well as the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. RICS is a brand itself that attracted me the most, which would expose me to the best international practices. This was the moment; I was persuaded to pursue my studies and enrolled myself for the specialized MBA in Construction Project Management (CPM) at RICS SBE. I firmly believe why to lose an opportunity when we get world-class education right outside our doorstep.
My Journey so far at RICS SBE
My Journey so far in this esteemed institution has been mesmerizing. At RICS School of Built Environment, one is prepared to outshine in the role of a project manager, working in a team as a team leader through the various courses designed. The faculty here is simply phenomenal. The faculty engaged are from the construction industry, they deliver research and practice-based teaching on a global curriculum that focuses on all aspects right from project initiation, design management, construction project planning and monitoring, valuation, cost management, contract management to data analytics and sustainability. The professors are always there to direct you at every step. The entire curriculum and course structure are designed to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge to meet the industries rising needs. The assignments are designed and structured in a way, making one work and think like a construction professional, and are based on the realistic exposure of the Built Environment.

Apart from classroom teaching, various site visits are engaged that help us understand how the real world is functioning. Honestly speaking, through my entire four years of engineering, the exposure to practical knowledge was always lacked. The site visits here helped me understand about the latest methods of construction, the materials used, as well as how the entire work is monitored and controlled using various technologies. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to visit sites at Hiranandani Estates and LOMA IT Park in Mumbai, as a part of my curriculum. In addition to academics, RICS SBE also conducts guest lectures by expert professionals to share their experience with us, providing an insight into the broad range of opportunities for students to consider the dynamism of the construction industry and business aspirations. I was often afraid of addressing a crowd and had the stage fear, but now I am more confident. I started enrolling myself for anchoring sessions, and now I can win people with my communication skills. My faculties here helped me to turn my weakness into a strength. With my first year of MBA, having completed, I can feel the difference in myself. This course has not only helped me develop my professional skills but also my outlook towards life.
I strongly recommend the specialized MBA course-
To conclude, if you have the vision and ambition to do big in life, it is always vital to complement your technical skills with managerial skills. Trust me RICS SBE would provide you with the platform of such opportunities and competences, and only having a specialized MBA would make sure you have a career it keeps you in demand at all times. I am pleased and glad for have chosen to go for a specialized MBA rather than a generic one, as this would help me accomplish my goal and at the same time provide me with the guidance for becoming an MRICS.
