This journey was full of experiences that gave us real-time learnings of how our management careers will be.
The trek was conducted on the 12th October 2019, Saturday. It was organized, managed and steered by the students of RICS School of Built Environment (RICS SBE), Mumbai, for the students of the entire Amity Mumbai University. This is the successful consecutive second year of organizing a trek for Amity University, Mumbai, by the RICS SBE students.
I, Asmita Ashok Nalavade, presently studying in MBA CPM, 3rd Semester, feel fortunate to have got an opportunity to organize Amity Trek for past two years. I have always been passionate about trekking since my young age, having an experience of trekking in the Himalayas, local treks in Karnataka and Maharashtra. Last year when our Director Col. Sanjay Singh Sir proposed to organize a trek for the entire University I took it as a challenge as it was my first time of organizing a trek. This journey was full of experiences that gave us real-time learnings of how our management careers will be.
Last year we were a team of five students in the organising team. We managed and learned for ourselves what needs to be done if we were given an opportunity the next year. And by the positive response from the students, we were given a chance to organize it this year as well. From our learnings from the previous year, we formed a well-structured organising team for this year. Various departments were initially formed like Transport Team, Food Team, Trek Leaders Team, Documentation Team and the First aid Team. The responsibilities were equally distributed among the teams which eased the overall organizing process. This resulted in a well-planned, organized trek to Lohagad. The best part of the trek was, we were fortunate enough to have the presence of our Hon. VC and his wife were with us throughout the trek journey.
About Lohagad:
It is a Maratha fort situated in the Lonavala and Khandala region. The range divides the two rivers in the region, the Indrayani and the Pawana River. Lohagad overlooks the Pawana reservoir, located at the south of the mountain. The Hill extends to the northwest into a fortified spur. The fort is elevated to the about 3,389 feet above sea level. Lohagad trek has a lot offer apart from just trekking and enjoying the natural scenes. The archaeological department has declared as a protected monument.
