"I have seen my dad growing in the construction sector and I was always fascinated by it. During my internship in Dubai I learned how to value a skyscraper, a warehouse and an amusement park. The more I learn about real estate, the more exciting it becomes." Ashlee Sharma, talks about how her sister's journey in real estate inspired her to take up MBA in REUI and realize that real estate is just not limited to men.
“Since my childhood, I have seen my dad growing in the construction industry. Then I saw my sister who is a civil engineer and MBA CPM pass out excel in this male dominated sector. When I saw her working I realized there are a lot of opportunities for girls in this sector. This motivated me to join the sector but being from a non-technical background (an economics graduate) there were not many courses I could do to enter the industry.

My sister introduced me to RICS SBE’s MBA in Real Estate when she got to know about my interest. I evaluated the program curriculum, found it apt for my aspirations and opted for it. The kind of exposure I got here was immense. I interned in JLL Dubai and learned how to value a skyscraper, a warehouse and an amusement park. The more I learnt about real estate, the more exciting it seemed to be. I realized working on the computer alone is not enough to evaluate property, so I visited properties in Cairo, Saudi Arabia, Northern Africa and across Middle East to understand the different aspects that impact the value of property. I also learnt how to operate Argus software which is used extensively in UAE.
When it was time for placements, my first interview was with Edelweiss and I was a bit nervous. But because of the skills I had imbibed, growth that I have seen in myself and the learnings from industry leaders who visited the campus frequently, I was able to clear both the HR and the technical rounds. Now I am placed as an Associate with Edelweiss in Banks & Financial Services division.
In the end, I would only say that it is not only about who you are and where you are but what you do and how you do which will help you grow in future. “
